Application Methodology:


Depending upon the size of the melting kettle Coal Tar Enamel is to be cut into small pieces of approximately 1-2 kg each. The kettle is to be filled to about 40 % of its capacity with these pieces and heating to be started. Balance material is to be slowly added till application temperature is reached. On attaining fluidity the material is to be stirred occasionally to avoid carbonization\'' at the bottom of the kettle. This will prevent coking of the material and considerably save on fuel. The material should not be maintained at the application temperature for more than three hours and the entire quantity should be consumed during this period. If there is any balance material remaining after this period it can be added to fresh material at the rate of 10% maximum per batch. However, if there is any material left over from the reprocessed batch, it must be discarded. If the application has to be discarded after starting the melting operations, the material can be reused only if it has been heated below 150 deg C an in that case, it can be reused by adding 25\''70 of this material to the next batch. If the material has been heated above 150 deg C and abandoned, the material should not be added. The kettle must be thoroughly cleaned after every three batches. Enamel should not be applied to primed pipe when metal temperature is below 7 deg C and care should be taken to ensure that pipe is free dust, dirt, oil and moisture.

Storage:

• Should be stored in a clean place to avoid contamination.
• Breaking up of enamel into small pieces is easier when the temperature is low.

Description

Techkote-T10 is water based bituminous emulsion with finely divided bitumen dispersed in water and is ready for application on wet surfaces.

Applications

Techkote-T10 is recommended for waterproofing of leaky walls / surfaces or places where heating of bitumen is not desirable or prohibited.

Advantages

Techkote gives a coating, which, when set, is impermeable to water and remains unaffected by attacks of industrial fumes, saline atmosphere, etc. It resists low temperature cracking and also does not crack under the influence of strong sunlight.

Instructions for use

 

• Wire brush and clean the surface thoroughly to remove all dirt and loose particles.
• Dilute Techkote-T10 from its pasty consistency to light consistency by adding water in the ratio of 1:1. Apply this diluted material on the roof surface as primer.
• When the primed surface is dry and has turned black from its original brown colour, apply Techkote T-10 and allow the emulsion to break. It will turn black from its original brownish colour.
• When the emulsion has set in, spread coarse sand or crushed stone chips over the surface.

Description

Sealing Compound is bitumen based hot applied sealing compound for sealing joints in concrete roads, runways, bridges and other structures. The sealing compound is composed of selected grade of bitumen and rubber. It conforms to IS: 1834 – 1984 Type A.

Applications

For runway joints.Concrete joints in garages and filling stations.Warehouse floors and artificial water ponds.Used along with expansion joint filler (IS: 1838) for concrete pavements.

Preparation

All surfaces must be clean, free of surface dust, rust and any other foreign matter.

Application Methodology

 

• Apply a coat of bitumen primer and allow it to dry for 24 hours.
• Cut the sealant drum and heat it to 180 – 200 ºC by stirring slowly till bubbles disappear.
• While pouring, place wooden planks on both sides of joint and pour from the can with extended spout and allow the sealant to cool.
